Youth Update

Every once in awhile we receive some updates from some of our Youth Advisory Council (YAC) Alumni and also from some of our outstanding scholarship recipients. Recently JD Dunn and Jacob Maynard provided us with their most recent endeavors and accomplishments._thumb.jpg)
JD is a graduate of Port Huron Northern High School and a four year YAC member. After college JD continued his education and his philanthropic spirit at Loyola University in Chicago. The most recent project that JD is working on is St. Baldrick’s Day. This is an event that his fraternity has hosted on campus every year for the past 5 years. Last year, 83 people shaved their heads and $15,000 was raised for children’s cancer research. This semester, JD is not only shaving his head, but he is also organizing the event. Jacob is a Howard Acheson Scholarship Recipient who graduated from Marine City High School. Jacob went on to study aeronautical engineering at Western University with the dream of someday working with Disney. 
This semester Jacob was awarded the opportunity to experience just that through an internship with the Disney College Program. During the spring semester, Jacob is living and working at Disney World providing him with the opportunity to participate in the Professional Development Series for engineering. Jacob is very excited for the opportunity to learn from and work with the actual Disney Imagineers. Throughout this internship, Jacob is also continuing to take class through Western Michigan online.
