YAC Spotlight: Abbey Dombrowski

Posted on April 24, 2017

Abbey Dombrowski, president of the Community Foundation’s Youth Advisory Council, is highly involved with philanthropy in the greater Port Huron area. But her passion for helping others is getting her attention from cross the country.

Abbey was recently an expert guest speaker at the Southern California Youth & Next Gen Philanthropy Gathering conference, where she spoke about youth grantmaking and helped with a social justice session.

“I had an amazing time and got to network and meet so many other youth, as well as a lot of adult, philanthropists and learn about their different organizations that they are affiliated with,” she said. “I got to talk a lot about the Community Foundation of St. Clair County and share all of the wonderful things we have done!”

Abbey is also a member of the Youth Philanthropy Connect Leadership team and the youngest board member of A Beautiful Me. She also spends a lot of time working with the Arthritis Foundation doing philanthropic and advocacy work.

A resident of St. Clair, Abbey is currently attending Blue Water Middle College and plans to transfer to Concordia University in Ann Arbor in the fall.

Youth philanthropy and the nonprofit world inspire Abbey so much she plans to continue college coursework to pursue a career in the field.

In her free time she loves to go fishing, hiking, kayaking, and also spends her time rooting on the Detroit Pistons and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
