YAC C.A.R.E. Award

Posted on June 10, 2008

The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) has awarded the 2008 YAC C.A.R.E. (Community Awareness Reflected in Education) Award to Mrs. Robyn Etz.  Mrs. Etz has been teaching preschool-kindergarten at Montessori Children’s Academy in St. Clair for the past 22 years.

The goal of this award is to honor a St. Clair County teacher who contributes to their community by incorporating community involvement and/or charitable action into his/her classroom.  Mrs. Etz teaches these young children that they have the power to make a difference in their community and she encourages them to do so.  Her students have sent ornaments to our Marines for Christmas, they have saved 7 acres of rainforest and they have donated winter clothes and boots to Kids in Distress.  These are just a few examples of the charitable acts these three to six year olds have done this year under the guidance of Mrs. Etz.

As the recipient of this award, Mrs. Etz has received a $5,000 grant for Montessori Children’s Academy.  They can use the money to benefit their schools facility, classroom, students, programming, or any other special projects.
