Tree House Preview Tour is August 19

Posted on August 15, 2008

After two years of planning and the involvement of arborists, architects, educators, builders, naturalists and community advocates, construction has begun on Michigan’s first publicly owned, universally accessible tree house, located at the Pine River Nature Center.

We would like to invite you to come and experience this truly unique structure as it is being built by attending a Sneak Preview Tour on Tuesday, August 19 at 6:00 p.m.
The tree house will be owned and operated by the St. Clair County Regional Education Service Agency, and is being built as part of a W.K. Kellogg Foundation Access to Recreation Grant through the Community Foundation of St. Clair County.

Access to Recreation is a three-year initiative to create barrier-free, universal access to recreational opportunities.  In addition to the tree house, current projects include an Extreme Pool Makeover in Algonac and Accessible Canoe and Kayak Launches at East China Township Park and Columbus County Park.

The Access to Recreation initiative represents the innovative, collaborative, permanent change that can happen when community partners work together.
