Studio 1219 Breast Cancer Fund

Posted on January 25, 2008

We are proud to announce the establishment of the “Studio 1219 Breast Cancer Fund” at the Community Foundation of St. Clair County. This fund will benefit uninsured or under-insured women in St. Clair County who are in need of breast cancer screenings, treatment, prescriptions, insurance co-pays, and/or related programs. The funds will be made available to our local hospitals to apply for an individual they are treating who is lacking the proper insurance coverage.

During Breast Cancer Awareness month, Studio 1219 celebrated women with a series of fundraising events called “The Art of Being a Woman.” These events raised over $8,000 and half the funds went to the Studio 1219 Breast Cancer Fund at the Community Foundation of St. Clair County. The studio held a bra decorating contest, women in music night, a survivor’s luncheon, a women only art show, and much more. Men, women, children, and businesses from all over St. Clair County participated in our events. Everyone had either experienced Breast Cancer first hand or was indirectly affected by the disease. These events gave the community a creative and hopefully uplifting venue to express their feelings and experiences with Breast Cancer. Studio 1219 wishes to thank everyone who gave generously of their time, talent, and money to help make “The Art of Being a Woman” a success.

Studio 1219 established this fund to give back to the community. We hope, with the establishment of this fund, that we can play a small part in preventing women from experiencing this terrible disease. Donations can be made to the fund at anytime. Checks should be made payable to the Community Foundation of St. Clair County with “Studio 1219 Breast Cancer Fund” written in the memo line.
