Spartan Fever: MSU Alum donates $200,000!

Posted on December 30, 2015

Gerry KramerGerry Kramer is proud of his MSU Spartan roots, and excited about MSU’s game New Year’s Eve in the College Football Playoffs. He’s also proud of his hometown and his local community foundation, so much so that he recently made a $200,000 contribution to establish a new donor advised fund named the “Gerry Kramer Spartan Fund.”

“This is such an exciting time for MSU, for our state, and for my hometown of Port Huron,” Kramer said. “My education at MSU helped shape my career in commercial real-estate, and I’m at a point now where I want to do more to give back to my hometown. Creating a donor advised fund at my local community foundation made the most sense and will provide the greatest leverage of my gift.”

Kramer is founder and owner of Kramer Commercial Realty, the only real estate company exclusively dedicated to commercial and investment properties in St Clair County. His relationship with the Community Foundation of St. Clair County began as a donor in 1997. Then in 1999 he served his first term on the foundation board.  His board term was recently renewed and he currently serves on the foundation’s real estate advisory committee and is a member of the foundation’s Community Capital Club (C3).

“I also hope this gift spurs some of our friends from any of the universities in Michigan, and the great high schools in Michigan, to also consider utilizing our local community foundation for their personal philanthropy. Let’s have fun with school rivalries and spark giving from local alumni in a fun way,” Kramer said. “Why wait until we’re gone.”

Randy Maiers, the president of the community foundation, said “I can’t think of a more vocal champion for Port Huron than Gerry Kramer. He’s always been a generous donor and volunteer, and we’re so proud to be able to help him achieve his goals through this next phase of his giving.”

The new Gerry Kramer Spartan Fund will provide a broad range of charitable support in and around Port Huron, with an emphasis on projects that add to Port Huron’s continued revitalization and prosperity.
