Schools the big winner at 100 Men

Posted on September 13, 2016

High schools were the big winners at this year’s 100 Men event on Sept. 8.

The Port Huron Northern and Port Huron High School marching bands decided to split the $7,500 first place prize. The St. Clair High robotics team took home $1,500 and the Cardinal Mooney robotics team received $1,000.

This many winners is something new for the event, which is in it’s fourth year. The Community Foundation decided to switch things up with 100 Men: High School Block Party. Normally there is one $10,000 grant winner, which could be any nonprofit in St. Clair County. This year only high school programs and club were eligible and the three top vote getters received funding.

In keeping with the block party theme, this year’s event was held at the future site of City Flats Hotel and local area businesses such as Loft 912 and Weekends. Other area restaurants and breweries were also on site.

The Port Huron Northern marching band opened the event with a performance.
