Reverse Scholarship program gets boost from anonymous donor

Posted on April 11, 2016

Thanks to an anonymous donor, the Community Foundation of St. Clair County is able to offer a fourth $10,000 Reverse Scholarship.

Currently, the Community Foundation’s new Reverse Scholarship pilot program offers three $10,000 awards annually.

This fourth award will be available to entrepreneurs who want to move back to St. Clair County to launch or expand their own business. It’s a one-time award.  If the Reverse Scholarship committee doesn’t find a qualified applicant, then those funds will carry over until it does.

The Community Foundation began accepting applications April 4.

A “reverse scholarship” is a talent retention program that will pay students on the back-end of their college career. Applicants must have student debt, completed a degree in a STEAM related field and agree to live and work within the county.
