Nasr Family Fund gives $50,000 to Port Huron Museum

Posted on September 20, 2016

The Community Foundation of St. Clair County, in coordination with the Port Huron Museum, announces the generous contribution of $50,000 to the Carnegie Reimagined campaign by the Nasr Family Fund. This gift will be used to renovate the north gallery of the Carnegie Center.

The Nasr Family Fund is a donor advised fund (DAF) managed by the Community Foundation and was created by Dr. Nasr in 2011.

“Arts and culture help add to our community as a whole,” Nasr said. “Our region continues to see growth, prosperity and a greater quality of life, and I am honored to be in a position to use my donor advised fund at the Community Foundation to support this worthwhile project.”

The north gallery will be known as the Nasr Gallery once renovations are completed.

The Nasr family is well-known for many generous gifts to our community through their DAF, including major gifts to SC4 for the Nasr Natural Science Museum, Blue Water Safe Horizons, Studio 1219, Sanborn Gratiot Memorial Home and the Blue Water River Walk.

“Dr. Nasr and family realized they could support all of their favorite charities with just one donation,” said Jackie Hanton, vice president of the Community Foundation. “The family uses the power of a simple, tax efficient and flexible donor advised fund to support all of their favorite charitable organizations.”
