Helen David Remembered Through New Quota International Fund

Posted on June 12, 2007

imageThe late Helen David, fondly remembered by many as the First Lady of Port Huron, will be remembered through the creation of a new endowment fund by Quota International of Port Huron.

Helen was a long-time member and strong supporter of the Port Huron Quota Club. When she died last year she left a $25,000 gift to the organization from her estate. The local Port Huron Quota Club in turn decided to create a permanent endowment at the Community Foundation with that gift in Helen’s honor.

“Helen would have wanted us to use her gift to give back to the community,” said Shelley Warwick, a member of the Port Huron Quota Club. According to Warwick, the local club focuses its support on people with hearing impairments and disadvantaged women and children.

“Helen was a charter member of our club,” said Warwick. “She was an example and role model for all of the members that followed.”

Quota International was formed in 1919 as an international service organization. The group’s motto is “we share.”

Two additional funds for the Peoples’ Clinic and the Council on Aging have also been created through Helen’s estate and are owned and administered by the Community Foundation of St. Clair County.
