Fort Gratiot Light Station fund created

Friends of the Fort Gratiot Light and St. Clair County created a new agency endowment fund with the Community Foundation of St. Clair County. The Fort Gratiot Light Station Fund will provide an opportunity for friends, donors, businesses and the general public to support the long term restoration and interpretation efforts of the historic buildings and grounds of the Fort Gratiot Light Station County Park.
The fund recently received $13,550 from the Gerry Kramer Spartan Fund for restoration of three porches on the Keeper’s Duplex and the restoration of the lakeside entrance to the Single Keeper’s Dwelling.
The Kramer fund, a donor advised fund with the Foundation, emphasizes projects that add to Port Huron’s continued revitalization and prosperity. With the ongoing restoration at the park, it’s hoped that tourism in the Blue Water Area will increase as people visit the park and enjoy our community.
