First Downtown Summit

Posted on February 21, 2011

More than 30 residents participated in the first of three Downtown Summits being hosted by the Community Foundation, Blue Water Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the St. Clair Chamber of Commerce.  The meetings, all of which focus on the unique needs of our downtowns, are designed to explore opportunities for collaboration and leveraging of financial resources.  The first meeting was held February 15th at the Riviera Restaurant in Marine City.

The last time similar meetings were held in early 2008, the results were the Discover the Blue Tourism campaign and the Small Business Concierge program.  Topics discussed in the open agenda style meeting this time ranged from downtown housing, to tourism to special events.

The 2nd meeting will be held on March 15th at the Algonac High School and the third meeting will be held April 12th at a location yet to be determined.
