College Access Coordinator
Posted on December 18, 2008
As part of the St. Clair County Plan to create a path toward higher education, a College Access Office has been established at Port Huron High School. The goal of this pilot program, which is funded through a Donor Advised Fund at the Community Foundation, is to provide information and assistance to students and their families as they pursue higher education. Richard C. Murphy was recently hired as the College Access Coordinator. Richard, a resident of Port Huron, received his associate’s degree from SC4 and is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree in finance from Walsh College. As a former high-school dropout, he struggled for years before returning to school. Today, Richard is very active in the community and has spent a number of years mentoring youth and speaking to them about the importance of education. He is married and has one young daughter.
A series of “grand opening” events will be taking place at Port Huron High School to celebrate the College Access Office in January. For more information, please contact Richard at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
