CSB Bank receives Shining Star Award for Back to School
Posted on April 21, 2010
CSB Bank has received the “2010 Shining Star Award” for their involvement in the Back to School program by the Michigan Association of Community Banks. Each year, the group honors one of its member community banks that display service to communities and customers that went above and beyond the norm.
Juanita Gittings, Chair of the Women’s Initiative’s Back to School program agrees that CSB Bank’s dedication and interest in helping at risk kids and families succeed goes above the norm. “The Back to School program is successful because of community support and partnerships. The involvement of CSB Bank is outstanding and they have a lot of fun making sure kids get off to a good start in school. When CSB Bank teamed up with Port Huron Hospital Foundation’s Community Health Team to organize the Capac backpack event it was a winning partnership for the Capac/Yale community.”
Back to School 2010 will be the 5th year CSB Bank has partnered with Port Huron Hospital Foundation to host the backpack give-a-way event in Capac. “The needs are greater now,” said Joe Salas, Chairman/CEO of CSB Bank. The Bank also co-sponsors a mobile food pantry truck from Mid-City Nutrition with the Community Foundation of St. Clair County and Four County Community Foundation. Joe Salas continued “The food truck provides food to the families who were onsite to receive free backpacks and school supplies for their children. Last year, 675 backpacks and more than 20,000 pounds of food were distributed. A long line formed even before the event started but thanks to a bevy of volunteers, the families were soon laden with the backpacks and boxes of granola bars, frozen chicken breasts and lots of fresh vegetables.”
Congratulations CSB Bank and thank you for your partnership on the Back to School project!
