Grants Assist With Basic Needs

imageThe Foundation has awarded 13 grants totaling $20,000 to assist with emergency basic needs.  The grants will impact at-risk youth, seniors and families in St. Clair County by providing food, clothing, shelter and prescription assistance.  According to David O’Connor Jr., Chair of the Foundation’s Grants Committee.  “With over 14% unemployed a lot of people are struggling to pay for basic necessities.  These grants, administered through local agencies, will provide immediate help to those in need.” 

Grants were awarded to the following organizations through a competitive application and evaluation process.

  • Algonac Elementary School
  • Blue Water Community Food Depot
  • Blue Water Developmental Housing
  • BMS Disciple Ship
  • Department of Human Services
  • Kids in Distress
  • Mercy Hospital
  • Mid City Nutrition
  • Safe Horizons
  • Salvation Army
  • St. Vincent de Paul, St. Mary St. Clair
  • Trinity United Methodist Church
  • Yale Schools-Julie’s Kids Program
